Ride in style with Volkswagen’s first subcompact SUV, the 2022 Taos. The new Taos is 11 inches shorter than its bigger cousin the Tiguan, making it easy to maneuver through city streets and park in challenging spots. While the 2022 Taos is still finalizing production, here’s what we know so far from the prototype and sneaks and peeks of this new SUV.

Exterior Styling

 

The 2022 Taos has rugged styling with a prominent hood and contoured body panels. Depending on the trim, the Taos rides on 17-inch or 19-inch aluminum wheels with unique square wheel wells which helps to give the Taos a contemporary appearance.

Power and Performance

Under the hood of the Taos, you’ll find a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 158 horsepower and an impressive 184 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed transmission pairs with the engine. Front-wheel drive is standard with the option to choose all-wheel drive that comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

022 Taos come with Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit instrumentation featuring a 6.5-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Car-Net 2.0 connected services.

Safety Features

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos has the Volkswagen IQ DriveĀ bundle of safety features, including a forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-mitigation system.
