The key to great barbeque is to prepare the meat low and slow. Houston, Texas, doesn’t disappoint when it comes to mouthwatering pork or beef ribs. Find out what three must-stop restaurants are in the area.

Corkscrew BBQ

Begun as a catering company, evolving to a food truck, and then a brick-and-mortar location in Old Town Spring, Corkscrew BBQ serves prime brisket, pulled pork, and massive spare ribs. With husband and wife Nichole and Will Buckman leading the way, the restaurant prepares delicious red oak-smoked pork ribs and pulled pork. Because it’s one of the best BBQ spots in the area, it does sell out typically around 4 p.m., so check out its Instagram page to see the status.

Pinkerton’s Barbeque

Spearheaded by pitmaster Grant Pinkerton, Pinkerton’s Barbeque opened in 2016 just five miles from downtown Houston. Meats served by the pound include beef ribs, glazed and unglazed pork ribs, and juicy smoked chicken. Pair the meat with mouth-watering homemade sides including smoked duck and sausage Jambalaya as well as jalapeno-cheese rice.

Pizzitola’s Bar-B-Que

Opening its doors in 1935, Pizzitola’s BBQ is known in Houston for its succulent spare ribs. Its open brick pits are the only ones allowed to operate within Houston’s city limits and serves up a flavor you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Once you dive into these ribs, you’ll know why.

When you’re in the mood for meat that falls off the bone and is smothered in a delicious marinade, make sure you stop at one of these three Houston-area barbeque rib joints.
