Jul 3, 2019

From fireworks and barbecues to hometown parades and brews, the 4th of July is one of America’s favorite holidays. What could be better than celebrating it in Houston, Texas? These are three of our favorite events in and around our beloved Space City.

  1. Citgo Freedom Over Texas

This downtown festival is located in the heart of Houston. While you can check out the big event on local TV and radio stations, it’s best to be front-and-center for the festival, fireworks, and more. Musical guests include some of today’s top country stars. The patriotic extravaganza runs from 4 to 10 p.m. The pyrotechnics never disappoint.

  1. 4th of July Weekend at CityCentre

This free event features live country and rock music from 7 to 11 p.m. While you’re there, you can fill up on delicious eats from City Centre’s many restaurants. Out of towners can retreat to the on-site hotel after the celebration. But don’t forget the fireworks! A 15-minute display will light up the sky at 9:30 p.m.

  1. ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights: Star-Spangled Salute

If classical music is more your style, you will want to head out to the Miller Outdoor Theater on July 4th. Bring a picnic, blanket, and lawn chairs to this relaxing concert and exciting fireworks display. The fun gets started at 8:30 p.m. The event is entirely free.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including our festivals and holidays. Celebrate the red, white, and blue in style at one of these spectacular events.
