We want you to have all the info you need to make an informed decision at Archer Volkswagen. On this page, we'll tell you all about the latest driver assist features from VW! Find out below how VW technology can better protect you from the dangers of the road.

Even if you practice safe driving habits like keeping your hands on the wheel at all times, driver asisstance can take your safety even further

Remember to always practice safe driving and put down the phone. Driver assistance is no substitute for a licenced, attentive driver

6. Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning & Autonomous Emergency Braking)

VW Front Assist combines two technologies into one important safety feature. Front Assist begins protecting you with Forward Collision Warning. Sensors integrated in the front bumper monitor the traffic ahead of you. The vehicle's computer systems can detect a collision risk based on your speed, your distance from the traffic ahead of you and the speed at which that traffic is traveling. If an imminent collision is detected, audible and visual alerts will tell the driver to brake. If sufficient brake force is not applied, or the driver cannot respond in time, the second phase of Front Assist kicks in. Autonomous Emergency Braking will attempt to bring the vehicle to a stop automatically in order to avoid a collision.

5. Rear Traffic Alert

When backing out of a tight spot in a crowded parking lot, there are only so many directions you can crane your neck in search of surrounding traffic. Rear Traffic Alert provides peace of mind in stressful circumstances like these. As you back up, sensors in the rear bumper will detect traffic crossing your path. An audible alert will let you know to wait for passing traffic before you continue in reverse. It can even help brake your vehicle to avoid a nasty fender bender.

4. Light Assist

Your high beam headlights are essential to your safety on rural highways at night -- but they can be a detriment to others' safety if you fail to turn off your high beams when oncoming traffic approaches. Light Assist technology handles this for you. At nighttime above a certain speed, Light Assist will activate your brights automatically. It will also look out ahead for oncoming traffic. As oncoming traffic approaches, it'll dim your brights automatically, reactivating them once traffic has passed. This way, you'll get the brightness you need without worrying about blinding other drivers.

On narrow, twisting roads like this one, Light Assist and Lane Assist are particularly useful

3. Lane Assist

Even the most attentive driver needs to change the stereo, search the center console or grab some fries from the fast food bag from time to time. If you've tried any of these activities in a car without any driver assistance, you understand how easy it is to drift from your lane momentarily. But even a moment of drift could put you or the drivers around you in a dangerous situation. Lane Assist can subtly adjust your steering at speed if it detects that your vehicle is approaching a lane line without signaling.

2. Park Assist

At speeds below 12 MPH, Volkswagen models equipped with Park Assist use sensors to scan for parking spots. Whether parallel or perpendicular, this system measures potential parking spots to make sure that the vehicle can fit. But that's not even the cool part! Next, once a suitable spot has been selected, the Park Assist system will steer the vehicle into the spot automatically. You simply manage the throttle, brake and shifter according to prompts on the dashboard screen. The vehicle itself handles the rest!

1. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

Standard cruise control makes highway driving less fatiguing by allowing you to release the accelerator -- the vehicle will simply maintain a speed that you set. VW Adaptive Cruise Control enhances this feature with modern sensor technology! Not only can you set a desired speed, but you can set a desired following distance from traffic ahead. As the traffic slows down and accelerates, your car will respond in kind to match the flow of traffic. Even in stop-and-go conditions, Adaptive Cruise Control makes it easier than ever to manage the worst of Houston traffic.
